Hazardous Materials & Potential Transportation Risks
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the July monthly program -- Hazardous Materials and Potential Transportation Risks -- on Friday, July 22.
The keynote speaker will be Thomas D. Bartfai, Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, FRA certified.
He will discuss potential issues that can arise from improper hazmat loading, bills and placards.
Bartfai has been a hazardous materials special investigator for the PUCO for 22 years. He is on the City of Medina's Fire Department and is an office on the Medina County Hazardous Materials Response team.
His presentation will cover transportation issues involving hazardous materials communications. He also will discuss how they could potentially effect the reactions of first responders.
Bartfai graduated Kent State University in 1993 and became FRA certified to inspect hazardous materials by rail in August. There are less than 10 people nationwide certified for both trucks and trains.
The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m.
The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Reservations may be made online at the LCSC web site listed below.
