Safety Training Companies are REQUIRED to Have

The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the February program --- What Safety Training Elements are Companies REQUIRED to Have --- on Friday, February 21.

The keynote speaker will be Gordon Levar from Safety Compliance Associates.

He has both M.A. and B.S. degrees from Ohio University, and he has OSHA training in Construction and Hazard Communications/GHS.

He has worked in safety capacities for M.K. Ferguson and has designed and developed curriculum for training classes, and conducted safety training coursed throughout the state.

Safety Compliance Associates clients include various construction companies, with projects including hospitals, parking garages and college facilities. They do on-site construction inspections, OSHA outreach training and safety training to numerous public employers.

The program will:

---Identify the types of training REQUIRED for employees

---Identify OSHA 2013 training requirements

---Identify the Top 10 Most Frequestly Cited Standards

There will be an additional emphasis give to Fall Protection Training and Requirements.

The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m.

The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Reservations may be made online at the LCSC web site listed below.

Ohio BWC 2014 Safety Congress, March 25-27

The 2014 Ohio Safety Congress & Expo...will focus on, and provide guidance to...Pathways to Safety.

Registration is now open for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) 2014 Safety Congress and Expo (OSC14).

Safety Congress, the longest-running occupational safety, health and workers' compensation conference in Ohio, is free and takes place March 25 - 27 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Registration is available online at bwc.ohio.gov.

With a stellar lineup of speakers, workshops, training and exhibitions for both Ohio employers and workers, Safety Congress reflects BWC's commitment to the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, said BWC Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer.

The event is a one-stop shop for access to the safety education and resources that support safer workplaces and lower workers' compensation costs by preventing on-the-job injuries.

The theme of OSC14 is Pathways to Safety and the event will feature informative general sessions with nationally recognized experts, demonstrations and full-day workshops covering the latest safety and health information and best practices.

Those attending can network with more than 6,000 safety-minded Ohioans, choose from among 175 educational sessions and receive continuing education credits, and shop the Expo Marketplace, which will feature 225 exhibitors offering safety services, industrial supplies, and safety equipment and gear.
