The steering committee for the Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the very timely June program ---  Heat Stress -- on Thursday, June 15 at LaVera Event and Party Center. The featured keynote speakers are Christopher Lewis, CNP, Lake Health Physician Group - University Hospitals and Robin Sarian, Compliance Safety and Health Offiicer, OSHA Cleveland Area Office. 

The Thursday, June 15 luncheon program at LaVera Event and Party Center, 32200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, OH  44094, is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration begins at 11:15 a.m. This training event is provided to you by the LCSC steering committee.

The keynote speakers will address the signs, symptoms and management of heat stress from a medical perspective AND discuss "Hot Tips to Stay Safe in the Heat."

They will show the audience how to recognize the symptoms of heat illness in themselves and the signs in others. They will stress workers should not try and diagnose the illness itself (such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion) but instead be able to recognize it is happening and take immediate action.

Lewis is a certified family nurse practitioner who has been working in the field of sports medicine for eight (8) years. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner he workd as an RN in the areas of ciritical care, cardiac care and emergency medicine.

Sarian has nearly 26 years of federal service, working most of his career in safety. He is a safety compliance officer. He assists employers and workers reduce on-the-job hazards and reduce injuries, illnesses and deaths in the workplace.

Lewis and Sarian will discuss the different types of heat related illnesses and the causes of heat related illnesses; ways to prevent heat related illnesses and educational resources for heat related illnesses..
