The steering committee for the Lake County Safety Council is proud to announce the November LCSC program ... Marijuana & The Workplace: Navigating a Challenging Landscape, with keynote speakers Dyann McDowell and Michael J. Bertsch.
They will address issues such as:

*** And, Changes to Come with the DEA Schedule ...IF Rescheduled
McDowell is an HR Business Partner & Program Administrator (and Owner/President & Trainer) with Training Marbles. Bertsch is an attorney with the law firm Nicola, Gudbranson & Cooper, LLC.
McDowell has in depth knowledge of; human resources and drug-free workplace issues, the Ohio BWC and both public and private sector employers.
Bertsch's principal practice areas are; workers compensation, employment law and litigation, OSHA compliance and litigation and civil litigation - trial and appellate.
They also will discuss;
*** Medical marijuana affects on the BWC Drug Free Workplace program
*** Interplay with existing employer policies prohibiting on-the-job drug use
*** Effect on RC 4123.54 post-accident drug testing rebuttable presumption defense
*** FMLA/ADA accommodations
LCSC programs will continue to be on the third Thursday of every month (unless otherwise noted) and will be organized in a luncheon format from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m..
ALSO Returning is the participation rebate of 2 percent for companies that are enrolled in a safety council and attend a minimum of 10 meetings. The semi-annual report has been eliminated, the CEO attendance requirement has been eliminated and there are no group rating eligibility distinctions - the 2 percent rebate is for all eligible employers.
