June LCSC Meeting -- Accidents Happen: Or Do They
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the June monthly program --- Accidents Happen: Or Do They --- on Friday, June 16. The keynote speaker will be Michael J. Bertsch, Esq., Nicola, Gudbranson & Cooper, LLC. Among other items, Bertsch will provide an analysis of potential liability for a catastrophic workplace injury. Bertsch is a member of the Cleveland law firm of Nicola, Gudbranson & Cooper. He defends employers facing workers' compensation claims, alleged safety and United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations, allegations of intentional torts and other employment-related matters. Bertsch will discuss: OSHA penalties, Ohio BWC/ICO violations and civil suits under Ohio law. Bertsch was at the May safety expo and attended Brad Hurtig's presentation. At least a portion of Bertsch's presentation will be based on his observations of Brad's accident. Bertsch's wide range of civil litigation experience included workers' compensation court appeals and mandamus actions, defense of employer intentional torts and wrongful discharge, product liability and first-party insurance matters. He is a graduate of Xavier University, BSBA and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, JD. The meeting will be held at the Villa Croatia Event Venue & Party Center (The Croatian Lodge), 34900 Lakeshore Blvd., Eastlake, OH 44095, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m. The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
