BWC Gearing Up For Safety Congress 2011

The Bureau of Workers' Compensation is gearing up for the annual Ohio Safety Congress & Expo on March 29 to 31 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Those interested in participating may begin making their plans by pre-registering at ohiobwc.com.

The Ohio Safety Congress is the largest state occupational safety and health event in the Midwest. The free event features the latest safety and health information and techniques.

The safety congress features informative general sessions and nationally-recognized experts, safety demonstrations and more than 150 educational courses. It also includes full-day workshops and an expo marketplace that showcases safety products and services by more than 200 vendors.

This year the safety congress will feature several keynote speakers, including Dr. John Howard, Director of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, the nation's leading work-related illness and injury research agency.

Ohio Safety Congress Keynote Speakers Listed

The keynote speakers for the Ohio Safety Congress include, on Wednesday, March 30 at 9:45 a.m. Steve Buehrer, Administrator/CEO, Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

He is a former Ohio State Senator representing the 1st District and chairman of the insurance, commerce and labor committee. And before election to the senate, he served four terms as state representative for the 82nd Ohio House District.

Dr. John Howard, Director, National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) who will discuss research initiatives, green job safety and protection against workplace hazards.

On Thursday, March 31 at 9:30 a.m. David Rife, Assistant Vice President of Manufacturing and Owner, White Castle System, Inc. will discuss the company culture, the importance of personnel in the company's success and lessons learned from his role in the hit CBS series "Undercover Boss."
